Design Process -
Phase 1: Project Foundation
Every project begins with a design brief. In this phase, I ask the client many questions in order to determine their vision, budget, design implications, aesthetic, material needs, and timeline.
Phase 2: Research & Discovery
Once I have set a solid agenda & project timeline, my next goal is to uncover the ideal direction for the design. This includes mood boards, material identification, budget, and overall feel.
Phase 3: Conceptualization
This is where initial visions come to life. I utilize mood boards to create multiple sketches of various design options, I then organize my ideas into 3-5 refined directions which are formally presented to the client.
Phase 4: Design Breakdown
After presenting initial design concepts, necessary changes are discussed. The next step is to determine what is working, what isn’t working, and what needs to change in order for the design to be successful.
In this phase, all of the details are buttoned up. Dimensions are triple checked, issues are resolved, the design is finalized, fabrication blueprints are created, materials are sourced, and pre-press print files are created.
Phase 5: Narrow in Focus
Phase 6: Finalize Design
The design is ready to be made. Print files are printed, metal is welded, shipping plans are created, and the installation process is finalized. The client’s vision is brought to life and the design is finished.
